Hello everybody and welcome to another episode of the show. I'm so excited for you to meet today's guest. We have Fabiola on. Welcome to Unlock Your Vitality.
Hey, so excited to be here
I'm so excited to have you and to go into all the different topics. Um, obviously you probably had heard in the intro already of the amazing work she does, but let's introduce you a little further. So can you tell people about your story and how you got to being who you are today?
Awesome. Yeah. So I'm Fabi. I am a, well, I'll do a little personal one. Um, I have a mom to a little boy and, uh, during COVID, I, Was pregnant and realized that I couldn't go to work and be pregnant and be in covid So I was like, how do I make money from home? Um, and I have a wonderful best friend shannon who's also been on the podcast who was like I have an idea Why don't we? Why don't you take my program and um, Take your personal training experience, which I am a personal trainer, um, and make a personal training program. And I was like, that's a great idea. So we got together and I took it. And in that process, I realized that I loved being around entrepreneurs more than I loved personal training. And that's where this whole journey began. Um, I discovered my passion for systems and back ends of businesses and bringing businesses to life. Um, and that was just really kind of the start of it. It was all during COVID because I just needed to figure it out. I had no other option, if I'm being honest.
I love that. I actually didn't know that part of the story of how it started. Can you tell us, before we get into the systems, how you got into personal training and why and what was the passion behind that?
Yeah, of course. So this story is a long journey, but when I was in about 7th and 8th grade, I started really struggling with a lot of health issues. Uh, I was having severe asthma attacks all the time, um, and to the point where I went to a three floor middle school. And I was having to take the elevator as a seventh grader because I couldn't make it up the stairs because of my asthma I Come from a family of people with weight problems uh, my dad is, uh, well was obese Um, and that was just like a big part of growing up.
I saw the struggles that came with it I saw the struggles that came with weight and um You know, it's hard to be overweight and so when I was in eighth grade I decided to change my diet and so I became a vegetarian that didn't really help a lot if I'm being honest. I'm still a vegetarian to this day but I do it more because it's something I love rather than for weight loss purposes. and then when I was 15 asked my mom if she could sign me up for a gym membership. she was like, if you really want to, sure. And I was like, okay. So every day after school, I would go to the gym by myself and just like, at first it was really nerve wracking and really scary. It was just like this 15 year old overweight little girl who was terrified of being in this gym and slowly, but surely, I found a part of me that I didn't even know existed, like a certain type of Resilience inside of me and it If i'm being honest for the next four years of high school became who I was it was I loved it.
I loved the gym. I loved getting stronger and I love seeing my health come first I no longer I mean, I technically still have asthma, but it was no longer like Consistent asthma attacks. It was like here and there. Um I And yeah, I, when I went to college, I went in as pre med, I, my sister, I guess I'll tell a little bit of backstory here, family, my sister had cancer when we were younger and I was determined to become an oncologist. went to college and, I realized that that would be too close to home to do this bad. And I just realized I couldn't do it. And so I left school and I pursued personal training and sales. So full time. So I got my personal training certification when I was 19 I've had it since then. And, but I mostly just used it to help my loved ones, like help my dad to learn how to work out, help family members, friends, myself.
It wasn't like a huge business thing. It was just a passion project. And yeah, it really just came from a place of feeling, seeing the people around me struggle and having it affect them so much that I knew that in my life I didn't want to have those struggles. And seeing that you, it can get better and you can feel energized and amazing. And that's how I became a personal trainer and my journey with like health and wellness pretty much.
I love that when I love that you said that, you know, it was you who came to your mom being like, Hey, I want to go to the gym as a 15 year old. Like that's, that's, that's bold. I love it. And then the fact that you started really like feeling better. And are there certain things, whether it was, um, in the gym that you were experiencing or in the foods that you were eating that you were.
Able to kind of like tap into that intuition, even at a young age of being like, oh, okay, this is working for me because of X, Y, Z.
